Achievement & Integration

The purpose of the Achievement and Integration for Minnesota program is to pursue racial and economic integration, increase student achievement, create equitable educational opportunities, and reduce academic disparities based on students' diverse racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds in Minnesota public schools. Read Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.861. Read Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.862.

Districts eligible to participate in this program include those required to submit an Achievement and Integration plan under Minnesota School Desegregation/Integration Rules 3535.0100-0180 and those districts with a collaborative plan on file with the commissioner during FY 2013.

Currently, 134 school districts receive funding from this program. Participation is determined by the number of protected-class students relative to the number of protected-class students in adjoining districts or schools based on October 1 enrollment.

Montevideo Public Schools is part of an Achievement and Integration collaborative with six other school districts:

  1. ACGC Public Schools

  2. BOLD Public Schools

  3. KMS Public Schools

  4. MACCRAY Public Schools

  5. New London-Spicer Public Schools

  6. Willmar Public Schools

We work collaboratively with one another to supplement the instruction that is occuring within our districts, and to provide opportunities for student collaboration on activities that they otherwise may not be able to participate in. We offer a summer math program called “Gamma” each August, and are in the planning stages for a competitive, multi-district robotics program.

We also have our local program that works in conjunction with our Title I program and our Indian Education Program. Each of our grade level groups (K-3, 4-7, and 8-12) have a School Success Coordinator to work with families and students that need academic and social supports.

Each A&I plan is a three year plan, and we are currently in the first year of our current three year plan. Our main focus at this time in increasing achievement in Mathematics. Please view the documents below to see how we will measure our goal for reducing the achievement gap and increasing student success in mathematics.
